Health and safety is a fundamentally important aspect of our continuing business success

Our commitment is to provide a safe and healthy environment for all our employees, the public and our clients.

We have the ISO 9001 quality standard for our procedures and CHAS for our Health and Safety systems, for which we pride ourselves on our vigilance and low tolerance of non co-operation, both from employees and sub contractors.

Our training policy further supports this aspect in ensuring our employees have the competence required, continuing the emphasis on promoting Health and Safety in all aspects of our work. Last year we committed over 300 work days to training - more than most organisations of our size, putting George Jones in the top bracket of reputable companies for training per employee.

George Jones' dedicated Health and Safety team audit all employees and  ensure that sub-contractors are trained and competent, via regular site visits. During these visits, maintaining that our correct practices are being thoroughly followed, therefore ensuring the safety of our staff and the public is of utmost importance at all times.

Management staff have over 30 years' experience in the industry and are qualified to IOSH and NEBOSH. George Jones promote a 'top down' approach by ensuring site supervisors have a thorough understanding of H&S, and can clearly distribute this knowledge throughout the workforce. A visible commitment from the management team, has embedded an excellent health and safety culture. By training staff, reviewing policies/procedures, and visually inspecting H&S on site (acts and conditions), management demonstrate and promote a positive attitude to safety.

Our open-door policy also supports employees to raise any issues, and to provide input into RAMS and working procedures; for example, 'you said, we did' boards where people write suggestions which are reviewed internally and implemented. Anonymous reporting procedures also promote a good H&S culture, and an open and honest approach to H&S, as staff can alert management staff to any concerns or issues via anonymous postcards, sent directly to head office.
