Majot refurbishment of Belgravia mansion
There are some superb residences in London, and Seaford House in Belgravia is certainly one of the best .The floor of the main entrance, along with the handrails and columns in the main staircase are made from solid Onyx. Onyx is very hard to match, so Lord Seaford bought the quarry in South America whilst the house was being built to ensure he got exactly to materials he needed!.
We were asked to paint the ceiling, walls and frieze above the main stairwell. The question was how to erect the scaffolding without damaging the Onyx floor. A structural engineer was brought in and we built a complex bridge arrangement off the first floor landing and wrapped all the onyx on bubblewrap before rejuvenating the ornate ceiling and bringing the magnificent freize back to its 18th century glory!
